Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S open beta test will begin in February 2024. According to game producer Naoki Yoshida, Square Enix is targeting February 21 for the release of open beta.
During Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023, head of Xbox Phil Spencer was on stage with producer Naoki Yoshida to reveal the new Xbox Series X|S version. This new version will support cross-play with all existing versions. Unsurprisingly, the Xbox Series X|S version include faster loading and 4K support, similarly to the PS5 version.
Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S Open Beta
The Xbox Series X|S open beta for Final Fantasy XIV will be available in February, with February 21 being the likely date for the beta’s start. However, Yoshida notes that the date is subject to change, while speaking at Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival Tokyo. The full release of the Xbox Series X|S version is still planned for spring 2024, ahead of the summer 2024 expansion. Moreover, the Xbox Series X|S version will have parity with the existing PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 versions. This means that updates will release on all platforms simultaneously.
Players will embark on a new adventure in the continent of Tural in the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion this summer. Erenville and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn will join the Warrior of Light into this new land, but a new “contest” will divide the Scions into two opposing groups. Players must adapt to the unfamiliar terrain, make new allies, and discover the truth behind the conflict for the Mamool Ja throne in the new expansion.
Lastly, Final Fantasy XIV and the latest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, are available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Xbox Series X|S in spring 2024, and the Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion launches in summer 2024 on the aforementioned platforms.
