Final Fantasy XIV is Coming to Xbox Series X|S

A long time coming for the Xbox.

Square Enix and Microsoft have announced Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox platforms on Xbox Series X|S. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer was on stage with producer Naoki Yoshida to reveal the new version.

Yoshida confirms the Xbox Series X|S release of Final Fantasy XIV will support cross-play with all existing versions. This means Xbox players will be able to enjoy the title with users playing on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The Xbox Series X|S versions include faster loading and 4K support on Xbox Series X.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Will Be Playable on Xbox Series X|S

A beta for the Xbox Series X|S version will be held alongside the patch 6.5x series, and the full release is planned for spring 2024. Yoshida and Spencer also confirm that Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will be playable on Xbox Series X|S when the expansion launches in summer 2024. This means the Version 7.0 update and content will be present on Xbox Series X|S day-and-date with the PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 versions. Square Enix ensures full parity between all versions of the game going forward with the Xbox Series X|S release.

In Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, players will embark on a new adventure in the continent of Tural, the “New World.” Erenville and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn will join the Warrior of Light into this new land, but a new “contest” will divide the Scions into two opposing groups. Players must adapt to the unfamiliar terrain, make new allies, and discover the truth behind the conflict for the Mamool Ja throne in the new expansion.

Lastly, Final Fantasy XIV and the latest expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, are available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail launches in summer 2024.
