Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Details Pictomancer Job, Story Content, Raids, and More

Patch 6.55 gets a release date, too.

During Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2024 Tokyo, Square Enix revealed new details about Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, including the new Pictomancer job. New trailers and gameplay were revealed on stage at the event as well.

In Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, players head to the continent of Tural, which is also known as the “New World.” The Warrior of Light and Scions of the Seventh Dawn engage in a “contest” that divides them into opposing groups. This is the start of a new saga for the popular MMORPG, and the expansion contains new jobs, story content, additional side content, and so much more.

New Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Details – Pictomancer, Tural Areas, and More

In Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, players will have access to the new magical ranged DPS job, Pictomancer. This particular job originally made its debut in Final Fantasy VI. As a Pictomancer, players may draw and cast magic spells with a staff and tome fashioned in the form of a large brush and paint palette. Pictomancer has instant-cast abilities and spells, but the job also offers useful support skills. The starting level will be 80, and the job’s starting location will be in Gridania.

During the stage event, producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.55 releases on January 16. This patch will introduce the character that will request the aid of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, leading them to the continent of Tural. Fans may look forward to new main scenario quests, of course.

Yoshida also recapped information regarding the regions of Tural. The city of Tuliyollal serves as a main hub for the Dawntrail expansion, allowing Final Fantasy XIV players to head into north and south Tural. Yoshida believes the expansion will feel like it has two major arcs due to these vast regions.

The Solution Nine and Heritage Found areas were also revealed. Similarly to Tuliyollal, Solution Nine acts as a major player hub. Solution Nine is built by an entirely different civilization to that of Tuliyollal, however. The Heritage Found region features similar technology, but the area is overflowing with storms and energies.
