The nineteenth issue of Shueisha’s Captain Tsubasa manga officially announced that the series’ creator will be retiring after its next issue. The next issue will be the series’ last and it will release in April. Takahashi stated that it would take over forty years to finish Captain Tsubasa‘s story, and as the mangaka is sixty years ago, he figured it would be better to stop serialization.

A video game adaptation of the series titled Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is available on all consoles. Additionally, season 2 of the Captain Tsubasa anime, titled the Junior Youth Arc, premiered on October 1. It is now available for viewing on both Pluto TV and Crunchyroll. The latter describes the series as follows:

In preparation for the International Junior Youth Tournament, Japan selects players from the Nankatsu Middle School and Toho Academy Middle School teams: Tsubasa, Taro, Genzo, Kojiro, and Ken. They join some of Japan’s best players in Paris. They’ll need to beat the best teams from around the world to become champions. The competition is fierce. Let the tournament begin!

Lastly, the final issue of the Captain Tsubasa series will release in April 2024. Shueisha will likely reveal more details about the last issue in the coming months.
