A recent job listing reveals that Bandai Namco is working on both 2D and 3D action games for Nintendo. The identity of these games are unknown, however, the 3D game looks to be a remake/remaster of an existing Nintendo IP.
Last April, we reported on a job listing from Bandai Namco that involved “HD Remastering” of specific backgrounds and other assets. Earlier in the year, a new listing surfaced that asks for experience in Unreal Engine. Bandai Namco and Nintendo have worked together in the past on a variety of different games, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Bandai Namco Job Listing Hints at New Games in Development
According to a job listing reported by My Nintendo News, Bandai Namco is developing two projects for Nintendo. One is being developed at Studio 2 while the other will be developed at Studio S. The two games are a 2D and 3D action game respectively. Little information about the games are known. However, according to an earlier listing, the 3D game will be a remaster/remake of a preexisting Nintendo IP.
The 2D game on the other hand mentions construction of stage specifications, level designs, and more for a “side-view action game.” Some suggest that this could indicate a new Smash Bros. game is in development. Only time will tell if these rumors have any merit.
Over the last few years, Nintendo has developed a few remakes/remasters for the Nintendo Switch, such as the Super Mario RPG Remake and Link’s Awakening Remake. Nintendo is set to release more in 2024, with a Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD Remake set for next year. Nintendo and Bandai Namco will likely reveal more about their next projects in the coming months and years.
Lastly, Nintendo’s most recent game, Super Mario RPG Remake, is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
