Microsoft Wants Nintendo Fans to be “100% Part” of the Call of Duty Community

    Nintendo fans should feel welcomed.

In a recent interview, Phil Spencer of Xbox stated that he wants Nintendo fans to feel 100% part of the Call of Duty community in the future. The statement comes a few days after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision and Blizzard have officially gone through. Microsoft will soon reveal more details about Call of Duty’s future on Nintendo platforms.

Microsoft initially announced its intentions to purchase Activision/Blizzard in 2022. In July 2023, the courts officially approved their purchase. The purchase went through on October 13. During the court hearings, Microsoft repeatedly stated its intentions to make Activision experiences, such as Call of Duty, available on Nintendo systems in the future.

During an interview with the Xbox podcast, Phil Spencer talked about the company’s plans to expand the Call of Duty experiences on other consoles. In particular, he brought up Nintendo consoles, stating:

For Call of Duty players on PlayStation, and in the future on Nintendo, I want you to feel 100% part of the community. I don’t want you to feel like there’s content you’re missing out, there’s skins you’re missing out, there’s timing you’re missing out on. That’s not the goal. I want the Call of Duty nation to feel supported across all platforms.

Earlier in the year, Microsoft signed a ten-year binding agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to their platforms. After Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision/Blizzard, it seems they are sticking to the agreement. At the time of writing, it remains to be seen if other Activision/Blizzard experiences such as Diablo will also be brought to the system. Xbox will likely reveal more details in the coming months.

Lastly, the next game in the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare 3, will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battle.net.
