Pop Team Epic Manga Goes on Hiatus

The manga's "eighth season" is on hold.

Manga Life Win announced that the “eighth season” of the Pop Team Epic manga will go on hiatus due to various “circumstances.” Pop Team Epic author Bkub Okawa also shared an update with fans regarding his own health.

Okawa launched the Pop Team Epic manga in Takeshobo’s Manga Life Win website in 2014 and ended it in 2015. However, the manga exploded in popularity, and various “seasons” of the manga would be serialized in subsequent years. The manga is currently in its eighth season, but fans will need to wait a bit longer for it’s return as Pop Team Epic goes on hiatus.

Manga Life Win notes that Pop Team Epic is “not canceled” in a Twitter hashtag. Specific details regarding the hiatus have not been revealed, but Okawa shared an update on his own Twitter account. Okawa explains that he was not feeling well a while ago, but he’s back to normal health. He asks fans to wait until the manga resumes.

Lastly, two volumes of the Pop Team Epic manga are available to purchase at Kodansha’s official website. Here’s an overview of the manga’s first volume via Kodansha:

A gonzo, irreverent, four-panel manga featuring two 14-year-old girls who will bicker and curse their way into your heart.

No filter. No shame. No logic. No problem!

So you think that Popuko and Pipimi are just typical cute, sweet tweens? Think again f#%**ers! Ask the millions of fans in Japan and abroad….. these girls are nasty, vulgar, and they don’t take crap from anyone!

The bizarre four-panel comic by Bkub Okawa, on which the hit anime is based, is filled with obscure pop culture references (including walk-ons by characters from other series) and tongue-in-cheek—and in-your-face—quips and snipes, as well as inappropriate physical violence.

POP TEAM EPIC will keep you laughing, confused, and addicted!
