Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is Not a Remake After All

Development team listens to fan requests.

Dragami Games company president Yoshimi Yasuda confirms that the game design of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has changed from a remake to remaster. This decision was made after “requests” from fans.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was originally announced in May 2022 as Lollipop Chainsaw Remake, which would be made from the ground up again. Nearly a year after its initial reveal, Dragami Games revealed the game’s official title and began to share more updates. Yasuda confirmed that the game would feature an “uncensored” outfit for Juliet, for example.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a Remaster, Not a Remake

In a new tweet from Yasuda, the producer confirms that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a remaster. He states that the development team changed its game design from remake to remaster after various “requests” from fans. The producer did not elaborate further, Lollipop Chainsaw fans can expect more details about the game soon. Yasuda typically shares updates and insight about the game on Twitter, so he may be worth following.

Yasuda’s tweet reads, “We have changed the game design of RePOP from Remake to Remaster based on your requests!”

Moreover, Juliet will have original costumes in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP since “it’s difficult to play with copyrighted costumes.” This likely means that the studio is unable to feature copyright costumes from the original Lollipop Chainsaw, so new original costumes are being developed for the remaster.

Lastly, here’s an overview of the original Lollipop Chainsaw game from the Xbox 360 Marketplace

Bursting with sex, blood, and rock ‘n’ roll, Lollipop Chainsaw is the ‘un-deadly’ story of a sweet and killer zombie hunter and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.
