    Mortal Kombat 1 Roster Guide: Every Character at Launch

    Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the most anticipated titles of the year for millions of fans. The series is one of the largest in the games industry, spanning decades. The newest entry in the series sees Liu Kang take control of the timeline to forge a new era. This has allowed NetherRealm Studios to bring back some klassic characters to the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, such as Smoke, Rain, and Reptile. 

    It’s shaping up to be an exciting few weeks as we quickly approach launch. Let’s dive in and explore all of the characters you can expect to find in Mortal Kombat 1 at launch. 

    Every Playable Character at Launch in Mortal Kombat 1 

    In total, there are 23 playable characters available on day one. The following characters will be playable at launch in the roster of Mortal Kombat 1:

    • Reiko
    • Nitara
    • Shao Khan
    • Sindel
    • Ashrah
    • Baraka
    • Geras
    • Havik
    • Johnny Cage
    • Kenshi
    • Kitana
    • Kung Lao
    • Li Mei
    • Liu Kang
    • Mileena
    • Raiden
    • Rain
    • Reptile
    • Scorpion
    • Shang Tsung 
    • Smoke
    • Sub-Zero
    • Tanya

    This list does not include Kombat Pack 1, which includes characters like Homelander, Peacemaker, and Ermac. Those six characters will be available via post-launch updates. However, a DLC character is available on Day One in the form of Shang Tsung. He is a pre-order bonus that you must purchase if you fail to pre-order.

    Additionally, Kameos are not included on this list. Kameos are assists that you choose after selecting your fighter. While these characters are in the game and have models, you can not play as them. Therefore, they are not playable characters.

    Mortal Kombat 1 Launches September 19, 2023

    Mortal Kombat 1 will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam & EGS on September 19, 2023.
