Over the last few days, several rumors have come up that hint at a PlayStation State of Play being revealed over the next few weeks. For one, out of seemingly nowhere, pre-orders for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth have gone up on several online retailers. Earlier in the year, Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The latest trailer confirmed that the game will be available in Early 2024.

Yet, even four months before the end of the year, they still have not confirmed the game’s release date. With pre-orders for Rebirth being available on Amazon and Best Buy, Square will likely reveal the game’s release date at the next State of Play or Tokyo Game Show 2023.

Additionally, PlayStation and Insomniac are set to release Spider-Man 2 on October 20. The game will be the PlayStation 5’s flagship title for 2023. Recently, Insomniac tweeted that fans should “hang tight for news” on the upcoming release. Lastly, to further support the speculation, insider Jeff Grubb posted that he’s “heard a State of Play is coming” in response to the recent PlayStation Plus price change.

Based on all of the evidence mentioned above, it is highly likely that the next PlayStation State of Play will premiere in September 2023. Based on the recent listings for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the company will probably confirm its existence next week.

This season will be one of the biggest in gaming history, with Xbox releasing Starfield next week and Nintendo releasing Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the same day as Spider-Man 2. Fans of the PlayStation line of systems should stay tuned to more news in the coming weeks on the next State of Play.
