Are you trying to launch Starfield on Steam with no luck? We’ve got you covered with some tips and tricks on how to launch the game if you’re facing issues. For those unfamiliar, Starfield is the first new IP from Bethesda Game Studios in over 25 years. The title takes players to space to explore hundreds of planets across different cosmic galaxies.
Early Access for the title begins September 1, which is August 31, depending on your region. Here’s everything you need to know about how to launch Starfield on Steam if it’s not working.
Go to Downloads and Unpack Files
While this might be unfamiliar to some, you can head to the downloads on Steam once your initial 86GB file is finished. You’ll see at the bottom that it says something along the lines of “Not Available” next to Starfield, but you will want to hit the retry button next to it.
This will launch you into an unpacking phase where Steam can unpack the 86GB of files into the full size of the game, 116.27GB. If you haven’t seen this number yet, make sure you do this step before attempting anything else. This will solve the launch issue the majority of the time.
Restart Steam
If your game is still not working after unpacking the files, simply restart Steam. Users around the world have reported that the game is available to launch once Steam has been restarted. You should note, though, that this only works if your files have been unpacked.
So, this is why it’s important to ensure the files are properly unpacked by following the first step.
Restart Your PC
If you’re still having issues gaining access to the game after following the above steps, it might be a good idea to reset your entire PC. While this might sound minute, it can be the fix to a large portion of issues. Just a quick reset could be the fix you need to launch into early access.
