This past weekend, Digital Extremes held TennoCon 2023. TennoCon is an event entirely dedicated to everything within the Warframe franchise. From spin-offs to updates to ports to expansions, if you’re a Warframe fan, this is the event for you. A full VOD is available on the official Warframe channel here, but for those unfamiliar with the franchise, here’s an overview of everything revealed at TennoCon 2023.
What is Warframe?
Warframe is a hit MMO Third-Person Shooter that allows you to cooperate with friends as you travel the universe. You take control of one of dozens of Warframe, a cybernetic ninja with unmatched power and weaponry. Each Warframe has a different combat style and Arsenal, with a wide array of freedom given to the player to customize their play style and characters. Warframe is available now for free on the PS4, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Heirloom Collections
A new Warframe customization pack is available now to commemorate the game’s tenth anniversary. Titled the heirloom collection, the cosmetics are available now for a limited time at no additional cost. It is described as follows:

Abyss of Dagath
The Abyss of Dagath is a new update coming to Warframe. Dagath is a new Warframe with brand-new weapons, moves, and more. The update will be available in October 2023. Further, new QOL updates and seasonal content will be added in the Fall. More information will be revealed on Dagath’s appearance in Warframe in the coming weeks and months.
Whispers in the Walls
Whispers in the Walls is a new update described as “the beginning of an epic new narrative arc for Warframe. The update is said to be answering a question fans have had about the game since the beginning. The official gameplay demo reveals more information on the upcoming arc:
Scheduled for release in Winter 2023, Whispers in the Walls is the Origin System’s biggest update since the release of The Duviri Paradox in April. You will need to unravel the mysteries left by the brilliant Albrecht Entrati and the unknowable Man in the Wall – all as you battle a new enemy faction, the Murmur, across Albrecht’s secret laboratory complex.
Digital Extremes will reveal more details on the update’s release date in the coming weeks.
Cross-Save Coming this Year, Mobile Port Next Year
Digital Extremes revealed that cross-save will be added to Warframe later this year. Last year, they finally added cross-play between platforms. The upcoming cross-save update will allow fans to play and continue playing Warframe on any console.
Further, they also announced that Warframe will be coming to mobile devices. It will supposedly have “the same high-quality experience console and PC players have been known to expect.” Fans can pre-order the game now on the Apple Store.
Soulframe Gameplay
Digital Extremes also showcased more gameplay for their next title, Soulframe. Soulframe is a brand-new MMO RPG that strays away from Warframe’s cyberpunk themes and instead focuses on the concepts of nature, restoration, and exploration. While a release date has not yet been confirmed, during Tennocon 2023, they unveiled a new gameplay demo for the upcoming release.
The new trailer reveals that, while the game has mechanics similar to Warframe, it is entirely different from an aesthetic and gameplay perspective. The game features rideable mounts, new weapons, characters, and a brand-new world. Check out the new demo here.
Warframe 1999
The last major announcement from Tennocon 2023 is Warframe 1999. Releasing in 2024, Digital Extremes has described it as one of the biggest updates in the franchise’s history. The synopsis of the expansion is as follows:
In this stunning new update coming to the game next year, a stranger known as “Arthur” — who bears a striking resemblance to Excalibur — faces a familiar enemy in a new form. Where (or possibly when) does this battle between unknown forces take place?
Warframe 1999 will debut a new song from the famed band Nine Inch Nails called Into the Void. Alongside announcing 1999, they also revealed a new trailer for the upcoming update. Check it out below:
