Today, Geoff Keighley announced that The Game Awards will return this year on December 7, 2023. The event will be held at the now-renamed Peacock Theater, formerly known as the Microsoft Theater.
This marks the tenth anniversary of the show, which was launched by Keighley in 2013. With an anniversary like that, it’s bound to be a special show. On stage at Gamescom 2023, Geoff Keighley mentioned that “it’s going to be a very, very special show.”
The Game Awards Airs Live from LA on December 7
More information about the event, including guests, nominees, awards, and announcements, will be revealed as we approach this Fall. This includes ticket sales, as the event is open to the public. As always, you will be able to watch the live stream of The Game Awards straight from your home via YouTube, Twitch, or any other live-streaming service you can think of.
It is expected that plenty of announcements will be saved for the show this year. Games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Death Stranding 2 are sure to have a presence, as well as plenty of world premieres from publishers and developers around the globe.
What Is The Game Awards?
For those unfamiliar, The Game Awards is an award show held annually every December to award and celebrate the games released each year. The event is hosted by Geoff Keighley, who is the CEO/Founder of The Game Awards.
Voting occurs through a panel of different media outlets and accredited journalists across the world. There is also a fan award, which is 100% player-voted. Fan votes for standard awards such as Best Narrative or Game of the Year only contribute to 10% of the vote. The rest is calculated by the jury mentioned above.
