Shangri-La Frontier, the web novel by Katarina, is set to get an anime adaptation and new information has been released on it. This new information includes the anime’s production staff and cast.
The anime is set to air on October 1st, 2023 and will stream on Crunchyroll. It will run for 2 cours, approximately 24 or 25 episodes. The studio behind the adaptation will be C2C. It will be directed by Toshiyuki Kubooka, who’s worked on Berserk and Batman: Gotham Knight.
Cast And Staff Of Shangri-La Frontier Anime
The opening song is titled “Broken Games” by FZMZ. The ending song will be performed by CHiCO and will be tilted “Ace”. CHiCO is a highly accomplished musician in the anime industry, working on anime such as Boruto, Gintama and Haikyuu.
Yuma Uchida will voice Sunraku and Rakurō Hizutome. He’s the talent behind Kawaki in Boruto and Reo in Blue Lock. Waki Izumi, the voice behind Hinata from Tokyo Revengers, will voice Psyger-0 and Rei Saiga.a Hanamori Yumiri will voice Psyger-100.
The Plot Of The Anime
The anime is about Hizutome Rakuro, an avid gamer who loves playing bad games. He tries out a virtual reality game called Shangri-La Frontier. However, it’s not your usual VR game and he soon finds out.
Here is the official synopsis by the publisher of the series Kodansha:
“Second year high school student Rakurō Hizutome is interested in one thing only: finding “shitty games” and beating the crap out of them. His gaming skills are second to none, and no game is too bad for him to enjoy. So when he’s introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best—min-maxes and skips the prologue to jump straight into the action. But can even an expert gamer like Rakurō discover all the secrets that Shangri-La Frontier hides…?”.

Shangri-La Frontier will be joining other popular video game series such as Sword Art Online and Darwin’s Game. There’s a lot of expectations for this along with other fall anime such as Spy X Family. Hopefully it will deliver.
