Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore Coming Soon to Consoles and PC

    An homage to Zelda CDi.

Limited Run Games has officially announced Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore at their official showcase. The new adventure game will release at some point in 2023.

Arzette serves as a spiritual successor to the Zelda CDi games. Zelda: The Winds of Gamelon, Link: Faces of Evil, and Zelda’s Adventure have become infamous for their atrocious visual design and terrible gameplay. The game will feature several references to the original games, including a similar visual design and voice direction.

Arzette: The Legend of Faramore is a side-scrolling adventure game with puzzles, combat, and weird and wacky characters. The official trailer highlights the gameplay and shows off the many enemies and bosses you must deal with. There also seem to be collectathon elements, much like other games in the adventure genre.

The trailer’s description also goes into detail about the game’s voice and visual direction:

The Kingdom of Faramore is beautifully realized by Rob Dunlavey, the artist behind the world map paintings from the games that inspired Arzette. Plus! voiceover talent from the games that inspired Arzette return to lend their charm to this adventure, including Jeffrey Rath and Bonniejean Wilbur!

Arzette also features handpainted backgrounds, sprites, and animated cutscenes. The artistic elements have been crafted with care to imitate one of the most infamous games in history. It’ll be curious to see how Limited Run Games adapt the original gameplay elements of the Zelda CDi games in a digestible way for modern audiences.

Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore will release at some point in 2023. The game will release on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Limited Run also announced several other games at their official showcase, including the Gex Trilogy, Clock Tower Port +, and Tomba!. Stay tuned for more information from Limited Run Games on their future lineup.
