Limited Run Games has officially announced that WayForward and Capcom will release a Clock Tower remaster. The new remaster will release sometime in early 2024, and the developers reveal several new details.
The remaster will be the first time the game has been ported to the West. Initially released for the Super Famicom in 1995, the upcoming remaster will feature several quality-of-life changes that make it the definitive way to experience the horror classic.
Clock Tower Port +
The remastered version of Clock Tower has been nicknamed Clock Tower Port +. WayForward has revealed more information about the upcoming release on its official website. Key Features include:
- A survival-horror classic, officially translated and brought out of Japan for the first time
- Run, hide, and survive as you attempt to evade the psychotic Scissorman
- Atmospheric 2D art, detailed animations, and haunting sound effects
- Multiple endings and randomized gameplay elements maximize replayability (and jump scares)
- New animated opening, motion-comic cutscenes, and vocal theme song performed by Mary McGlynn
- Art gallery, save states, and other modern enhancements
The official story of the original Clock Tower has you play as “teenage orphan, Jennifer Simpson.” It has you using a “point-and-click interface to explore the mansion and search every disturbing corner to find items, reveal secrets, and discover ways to survive Scissorman’s assaults.” However, this is no survival horror game. It would be best to rely on nothing but your wits and cunning to escape and earn one of many endings.
Limited Run Games will also release a physical edition after the game’s release. LRG is porting the game with its main engine, the Carbon Engine. Clock Tower Port + will release in early 2024. It will be available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Stay tuned for more information in the future about the remastered version of Clock Tower.
