The long-rumored Batman: Arkham Trilogy was one of the major Nintendo Switch titles featured at the June 21 Nintendo Direct, and more news about the collection surfaced in the form of a physical edition. Although a physical release of Batman: Arkham Trilogy has been confirmed, the game will require additional downloads for two of the three games.
According to a new FAQ page for Batman: Arkham Trilogy, only Batman: Arkham Asylum will be available on the physical game cartridge. An online connection is required to download and install Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight when the game cart is inserted into the console. Once installed, all three games are playable when the game cart is in the Nintendo Switch. Details about the file size and additional downloads for Batman: Arkham Trilogy were not revealed, however.
Batman: Arkham Trilogy is being developed by Turn Me Up Games, a Los Angeles-based studio with years of porting experience. Their prior works include Nintendo Switch ports of It Takes Two, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Borderlands: Legendary Collection, Journey to the Savage Planet, and much more. Currently, the trilogy is only scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch, and other platforms were not discussed in the FAQ.
