Batman Arkham Trilogy Announced for Switch, Releasing This Fall

    Batman Returns

Warner Bros. Games and Nintendo just announced the Batman Arkham Trilogy at the June 22 Nintendo Direct. Alongside the reveal, the first released trailer confirmed what would be included in the bundle. The trilogy will release in Fall 2023.

The trilogy will include Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight. The trailer description states that the game will consist of “all post-launch content in one complete collection.” These include the expansions Harley Quinn’s Revenge in Arkham City and the Season of Infamy in Arkham Knight. Currently, it hasn’t been confirmed if the character packs in the trilogy that include beloved characters like the Red Hood, Batgirl, and Nightwing will be included in the trilogy.

This is not the first time there’s been a trilogy for the Batman Arkham games. In 2018, Batman Arkham Collection released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The original version included all the games above except Batman Arkham Origins. This version will also not include Arkham Origins or the handheld game Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate. This will be the first time Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight will release on a Nintendo console.

Arkham City has been released on a Nintendo console before. Ten years ago, Arkham City: Armored Edition released on the Wii U. At the moment though, it is currently unknown if the collection will include the features from the Wii U port.

The trailer doesn’t reveal much information beyond showcasing the traditional Arkham gameplay style. The graphics look impressive despite the lesser hardware the game is on. However, the end of the trailer confirms that the “gameplay footage is not final.” Only time will tell how the Arkham Collection will perform on the Nintendo Switch compared to other consoles.
