The final curtain call on the stage of history.

Bandai Namco announced weapon-based fighting game Soul Calibur V will be delisted on June 19 worldwide. The game will no longer be available for purchase on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in just a few days.

The official Soul Calibur Twitter account shared an update about Soul Calibur V, revealing that the game will be delisted in eight days. This means that the game will no longer be available for purchase in the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3 and Xbox Marketplace on Xbox 360. “Valiant Warriors – Soul Calibur V is taking its final curtain call on the stage of history and will be sunset on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 19, 2023,” Bandai Namco said on Twitter. “The base game and all associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you for your continued support.”

Soul Calibur V launched on January 31, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Ezio Auditore da Firenze from the Assassin’s Creed franchise was the game’s major guest character. The game was well-received by critics and players at the time. However, many Soul Calibur fans believed the game was a departure from beloved entries in the series like Soul Calibur II and IV. Ezio Auditore da Firenze from the Assassin’s Creed franchise was the game’s major guest character.

The latest entry in the series is Soul Calibur VI, which released on October 19, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco chose to return to the series roots in order to recapture the experience that many fans had with Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur II. Soul Calibur VI was one of the most well-received games in the series and featured Geralt from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as a guest character. Other guest characters such as 2B from NieR: Automata and Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown joined the roster as paid DLC.

Lastly, Bandai Namco is currently developing Tekken 8, the next entry in its premier fighting game series, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
