Tekken 8 Closed Network Test Announced

Get ready for the next battle.

Bandai Namco announced the Tekken 8 closed network test will be held in July 2023 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. On PlayStation 5, Tekken fans will have access to the closed network test first.

The Tekken 8 closed network test includes 16 characters and five stages according to Bandai Namco. As the name suggests, the closed network test will monitor the network and gameplay experience of the game thus far. Additionally, players will be able to test out the cross-platform functionality. Bandai Namco will gather feedback from the closed network test through an online survey. This player feedback will be vital for Bandai Namco’s efforts in improving Tekken 8’s online features and battle system leading into the full launch.

Tekken 8 Closed Network Test Features

In the closed network test, players have access to ranked matches with cross-platform play support. Ranked matches only go up to 10 rank according to the official Tekken 8 website, however. Moreover, “Heat Energy” has been removed, and the heat activation time of “Heat Timer” will change in respect to how heat is activated. Furthermore, Bandai Namco states that the “Heat Smash command has been standardized” for all playable characters.

PlayStation 5 players have early access to the Tekken 8 closed network test from July 21 at 1 a.m. PDT / 4 a.m. EDT to July 24 at 12 a.m. PDT / 3 a.m. EDT. Server maintenance will be held from July 21 at 1 pm PDT / 4 p.m. EDT to 4 p.m. PDT / 7 p.m. EDT. From July 28 to July 31, players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam will have access to the closed network test with the exact same time slots. Server maintenance will be held again on July 29 from 1 a.m. PDT / 4 a.m. EDT to 4 a.m. PDT / 7 a.m. EDT.
