A new gameplay trailer for the upcoming dating/action game Eternights, developed by Studio Sai, has been officially released. The Summer Game Fest 2023 trailer details more of the Eternights’ story and gameplay mechanics.
Story
The game’s official Steam page confirms more information about Eternights‘ story. “One day, something, or someone, has turned humans into dangerous monsters. All that interests them now is violence and power. They are what stand between you, a cure, and the world you want. Most importantly? You’re fighting for more than just your own survival – you are fighting for those you love.” The player gets the opportunity to explore “a post-apocalyptic world filled with danger, love, and adventure.”
Eternights Gameplay Mechanics
The gameplay trailer and Steam page show off more of the many mechanics of Eternights. There will be dungeon-crawling mechanics, with puzzles, action RPG combat, and dancing minigames as a standard part of the gameplay. The Steam page also confirms that every day will have a deadline. There will be a limited amount of time every in-game day to do certain tasks. So players can choose between using the day to explore the dungeons or build relationships with one of five NPCs.
On the subject, the Steam page also elaborates more on the game’s dating mechanics. “When you’re not exploring dungeons,” the post explains, “you can choose to spend time growing closer to a cast of five quirky and loveable characters.” Building these bonds allow for more spells and skills for use in the game’s combat. To enhance the immersion, the game will feature 2D animated cutscenes that change depending on who the player chooses to date.
