Sonic the Hedgehog series writer Ian Flynn confirms that he’s returning to work on the upcoming story DLC for Sonic Frontiers. Ian Flynn served as the original writer for Sonic Frontiers, and he will reprise his role for the game’s third major update.
According to Flynn, the events and key details about the Sonic Frontiers story DLC were given to him by Sonic Team director Mirio Kishimoto. Flynn’s current job involves fleshing out the details for the story scenario. Flynn claims the story DLC will carry great importance for Sonic Frontiers, but he can’t share any more details at this time.
“Since it’s been making the rounds: I’m back for the Sonic Frontiers DLC story,” said Ian Flynn on Twitter. “As before, the events & key details were supplied by Kishimoto-san & my job was to flesh it out. The team is extremely hard-working and ambitious. The DLC will be truly important.”
Upcoming Sonic Frontiers Updates
Previously, Kishimoto confirmed that the beloved Spin Dash ability will return in the second major update for Sonic Frontiers. The ability was originally planned for the Sights, Sounds, and Speed update. Fans can expect the second major update to introduce a Sonic birthday celebration, new Koco, and Open Zone Challenges. The third major update will bring the aforementioned story DLC alongside new playable characters such as Knuckles and Tails. Release dates were not announced for these new updates, but SEGA plans to share more information as soon as possible.
Lastly, Sonic Frontiers is available now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam worldwide.
