Tokyo-based company D4 Enterprise officially announced Project EGG (Engrossing Game Gallery) retro games will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The company plans to bring as many retro games as possible to Nintendo Switch through its newly established “Project EGG for Switch” initiative.
D4 Enterprise has re-released several games from retro consoles such as MSX, PC-9801, and PC-8801 onto newer platforms through Project EGG for Windows, PicoPico for smartphones, and Virtual Console for Nintendo platforms. These Nintendo platforms include the Wii U (MSX), Wii (MSX, NEOGEO, Arcade), and 3DS. Further, D4 Enterprise is the sole authorized worldwide distributor of MSX Licensing Corporation, which holds the rights to MSX (Thanks, Gematsu).
Alongside Nintendo Switch Online, Project EGG will bolster the library of accessible retro games on Nintendo Switch. Currently, retro gaming efforts on Nintendo Switch are supported through the use of Nintendo Switch Online, which features games from the NES, SNES, SEGA Genesis, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance. Additionally, HAMSTER Corporation continues to bring classic arcade titles through its Arcade Archives brand.
More details, including a release date, for Project EGG for Switch will be revealed at a later date, so stay tuned for more updates.
