MAGES. Chairman and Executive Director Chiyomaru Shikura Steps Down

    Prolific director to continue creating new games at the studio.

    Science Adventure series director and executive Chiyomaru Shikura announced that he’s stepping down from the chairman and executive director at MAGES. Shikura made the announcement on his official Twitter account.

    Shikura will remain on board at the company as an executive producer to focus on development of original works and brand-new games according to MAGES. The game creator reiterates this on Twitter, stating he’s nostalgic to continue working as a game producer at MAGES. and create new content once more.

    The news comes just weeks after MAGES. announced insolvency due to massive financial losses during fiscal year 2022. Multiple games are currently being prepared at the COLOPL-owned studio. Further, a restructuring of MAGES. appears to be likely.

    “An announcement. As my term has ended, I have left my position as chairman and executive director of MAGES. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped me since the company’s founding, our reliable staff, and more than anyone, the fans who played my works, even if only a little. I cannot thank you enough.

    “However, I would like to continue my life as a creator just a little longer. With the spirit of going back to the basics of my days as an assistant director, I am in discussions with MAGES. to establish a new cooperative relationship and position to continue working with the staff I’ve come to know to build a system that will allow me to continue releasing new titles and so on going forward.”
