Pop Team Epic viewers were amazed by Takaya Kuroda and Hidenari Ugaki’s performance during the anime’s second season. Fortunately, fans of the actors’ work in the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series may look forward to more since a collaboration with Pop Team Epic is coming soon.
The official Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Twitter account announced Like a Dragon will officially collaborate with Pop Team Epic. Popuko and Pipimi are shown wearing Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima’s outfits near the red Kamurocho torii gate. Further details about the collaboration were not revealed, but more information is coming soon according to SEGA.
Recent skits involving the Pop Team Epic pair were voiced by Takaya Kuroda and Hidenari Ugaki, the Japanese voice actors for Kiryu and Majima in the Like a Dragon series. Kiryu and Majima are prominent characters throughout the Like a Dragon franchise. In fact, their ordeals often link together in the criminal underworld as shown in games like Yakuza 0 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Speculation points toward a potential Like a Dragon-themed skit or an appearance of Popuko and Pipimi in Yakuza Online. However, SEGA has yet to reveal any concrete details about the collaboration.
Like a Dragon: Ishin releases February 21, 2023 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Fans may also look forward to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which releases in 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Lastly, Like a Dragon 8 releases in 2024.
