Ys X: Nordics Announced for PS4, PS5, and Switch

Major Ys installment lands day-and-date on Switch.

Falcom announced Ys X: Nordics, the next installment in the Ys action RPG series, launches in 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in Japan.

After Adol Christin’s grand adventures in the Ancient Kingdom of Ys, the young adventurer encounters maritime people known as the “Normans” in the Obelia Bay. Adol also encounters Griegers, immortal undead beings that attack humans. The story of Ys X: Nordics begins.

    Revamped Combat

The Ys series combat system last featured in Ys IX: Monstrum Nox has been revamped entirely. “Cross Action” allows players to fight in two modes in combat scenarios. The “Solo Mode” allows the player to control Adol while taking advantage of automatic attacks and support from his partner. In “Combination Mode,” the player can control both characters for a series of attacks against powerful opponents.

    A Voyage Across the Sea

Players may control a ship for the first time in Ys series. Use sea maps to navigate the vast ocean and engage in naval combat against enemy ships. The new ship feature adds to the “joy of adventure” that Ys is known for. New gameplay systems such as “Mana Action” add to the sense of freedom in dungeons and the field.

According to Falcom, more unannounced Nintendo Switch games are on the way, and more details will be revealed at a later date. In the meantime, Ys X Nordics’ official website may be visited here.
