HoYoverse revealed new details regarding upcoming Genshin Impact playable characters Alhaitham and Yaoyao. Yaoyao is expected to make her debut in the upcoming Lantern Rite event while Alhaitham arrives in version 3.4.
Alhaitham is a confidant of the Traveler and a prominent Akademiya scribe in Sumeru. However, Alhaitham does not conform to the traditional scribe duties and hates the corruption that plagued the Akademiya. He’s a Dendro Vision bearer just like other Sumeru characters such as Nahida and Collei in Genshin Impact.
Alhaitham’s character description reads, “The current scribe of the Sumeru Akademiya. This title may sound very impressive, but it’s really because the Akademiya has a culture of using official titles to inflate one’s ego.”
Yaoyao is a disciple of Madame Ping in Liyue Harbor and a fellow Dendro Vision bearer in Genshin Impact. Although she’s not related by blood to Madame Ping, she’s treated like a granddaughter all the same.
Yaoyao’s character description reads, “In the eyes of the people of Liyue Harbor, Madame Ping always brings the smiley Yaoyao along with her, and the two behave like a loving grandparent with her grandchild. In reality, they are not biologically related. Yaoyao is the disciple of Madame Ping, also known as Streetward Rambler.”

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC via Epic Games Store and Windows. Lastly, a Nintendo Switch version is currently in development.
