OMEGA6: THE VIDEO GAME by F-Zero Artist Takaya Imamura Announced for Switch

Prolific Nintendo developer's next game is coming to Switch.

Developer Happymeal announced OMEGA6: THE VIDEO GAME, a 16-bit retro-futuristic sci-fi text adventure game based on the OMEGA6 manga by F-Zero and Star Fox artist Takaya Imamura. The game will release for Nintendo Switch with English, French, and Japanese support.

Imamura previously served as the main art director, character designer, and storywriter for the F-Zero and Star Fox franchises before leaving Nintendo in October 2021. OMEGA6: THE VIDEO GAME will be Imamura’s first title since leaving the company. Imamura is handling the game’s art direction and graphics while development is led by Happymeal.

The game will follow an original story separate from the manga with brand-new characters. Characters such as Thunder and Kyla will return from the manga for the upcoming game adaptation, however. Although the game is primarily a text adventure, it will feature various battle scenes and unique systems.

Here’s an overview of the OMEGA6 manga via Gematsu:

After months of cryonic suspension in their spaceship, Thunder and Kyla are finally awake. They are bounty hunters, and the target they were chasing after has finally been located on an average planet. But just when they thought they’d make short work of him, their opponent Petrogaze turns out to be much tougher than expected…
