    Final Fantasy XIV boosts Square Enix’s sales & income for fiscal year 2022

    Final Fantasy XIV was a major highlight in fiscal year 2022 for Square Enix as the game boosted net sales and operating income. According to the recent financial results, the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker in December 2021 is a “major contribution” to Square Enix’s rising revenue.

    Net sales in the MMO category were up from 39.8 billion yen in FY2021 to 62.2 billion yen in FY2022. This helped boost Square Enix’s operating income from 50.5 billion yen to 58.9 billion yen, an over 25% increase year-over-year. In addition, profit was up 90% year-over-year from 26.9 billion yen to 51.0 billion yen.

    As the MMORPG continues as a shining success, the company is ready for more as Final Fantasy XVI finishes development. A new trailer is coming soon according to producer Naoki Yoshida. Higher-ups in the company already saw the trailer and have high expectations for Final Fantasy XVI.

    Fiscal year 2023 is underway for Square Enix with Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary news coming soon. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is expected to release by the end of September 2022 according to Applibot parent company CyberAgent. Square Enix reiterates that several new games are planned to release by the end of March 2023.
