A Mafia prequel is in early development

A new Mafia game is reportedly in development as a prequel to the entire trilogy. Hangar 13’s UK studio in Brighton is working on the series prequel in an early stage of development.

Kotaku also reports that the game is in development in Unreal Engine 5. The new Mafia game moves away from the Mafia 3 engine used in the trilogy remasters with a futureproofed feature set of development tools

In addition, studio head Haden Blackman leaves Hangar 13 and publisher 2K. According to an email sent to staff via Gamesindustry.biz, he stepped down to “pursue his passion at a new endeavor”. Nick Haynes takes the new role of Hangar 13 studio lead.

Fans can expect the new Mafia prequel to land on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in the future. In the meantime, stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest gaming news and updates!
