Kingdom Hearts IV features reaction commands, Shibuya is a part of Quadratum

In a new interview at Famitsu, Tetsuya Nomura shared some more details regarding the recent reveal of Kingdom Hearts IV including gameplay and Quadratum. According to Nomura, Shibuya is indeed a part of Quadratum in Kingdom Hearts IV. However, the Shibuya seen in KH IV is not related to that of Shibuya in The World Ends With You series. Sora wakes up in a cozy room in south Aoyama and acts as a base in the early portion of KH IV. The narrator’s voice heard in the trailer is a character fans already know of, but haven’t heard the voice of until the reveal trailer. Nomura likes to keep fans guessing until more details can be shared.

In terms of combat, the drill attack seen in the reveal trailer is a reaction command. Reaction commands are back from KH II since many fans wanted it back in KH III. The new “build” command spotted in the trailer is a brand new “scrap and build” concept being introduced with KH IV. Nomura says the concept of “destruction and reconstruction” will be detailed at a later date.

As previously announced, more details about Kingdom Hearts IV will be shared after Summer 2022. The Dark Road finale and Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link mobile game are fast approaching as KH IV continues in active development.
