Tetsuya Nomura shares new details for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and Remake Intergrade, teases “busy years” of FFVII news to come

In a new interview with Famitsu, Square Enix director Tetsuya Nomura shared more information regarding the latest Final Fantasy VII projects. This includes Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Ever Crisis. Nomura teased more announcements and news to come regarding the Final Fantasy VII universe as “busy years” are to come. It seems like Nomura has a lot of work to do as he’s also in charge of the Kingdom Hearts series. For now, focusing on the latest Final Fantasy VII projects is the plan.

In Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Yuffie may use additional materia and summons not found in the main game. According to Nomura, development of the new content for PS5 allowed for a smooth transition to development of the sequel. DLC like Yuffie’s episode are considered after completion of a main game which is why Intergrade comes a year after Remake’s release.

Final Fantasy VII – The First Soldier is another project in the franchise coming soon. It’s developed to appeal to broader audiences in the battle royale space and introduce them to the world of FFVII. The game features elements from the Final Fantasy franchise to set it apart from other battle royale games. A closed beta test is being planned so players will have a chance to try it out. Nomura says the producer is a heavy player of battle royale games and wants to make adjustments as fans send feedback. The story of The First Soldier battle royale will be told as an original episode in Ever Crisis.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis remakes the entire original FFVII compilation for mobile. It is free with weapon gacha serving as microtransactions. The story of the compilation is told in 10 chapters and the Midgar escape happens in chapter 3. Additionally, Ever Crisis features special dungeons and battles beyond the story. This means players can make their own parties of characters that defy what’s possible in the main game. Music is arranged based on the original game. Nomura states that many requests for the Final Fantasy VII compilation on consoles have been recieved. However, Ever Crisis is not meant to be a substitute for those fans’ wishes.
