Aspyr Media was recently acquired by Embracer Group as the studio has extensive history in game development with Star Wars games. The recent Star Wars remasters like Jedi Knight I and II were developed by them, just to name a few. It seems like Aspyr Media might be developing Knights of the Old Republic as the team is currently working on a $70 million project. Additionally, Embracer Group states that Aspyr Media is in-fact working on a pre-existing IP for this project. This could be very well be the Star Wars KOTOR project in development.

“Aspyr currently has several games under development including one major ongoing game development project with a approximately budget of USD 70 million that is expected to become an important for the entire group. These development projects will engage more than 200 internal and external developers with the core team in Austin, Texas, and will contribute to Embracer’s release slate in the coming years.”

Lucasfilm Games could be playing it safe with Aspyr since they know how to remaster and develop Star Wars games with modern platforms in mind. However, this should still be considered a rumor for now. More information is bound to come up in the following months.
