In some surprise news, Blizzard announced today that Vicarious Visions has merged with them. The company is moving from being an Activision-based development studio to a Blizzard one. In addition, all 200 employees at Vicarious Visions will be “fully dedicated to existing Blizzard games and initiatives”. This means that the studio won’t be creating games as the lead developer anymore. Some of Vicarious Visions’ most successful games include Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy. The team even developed some of the DLC expansions early on in Destiny 2.

Although the studio is switching from Activision to Blizzard, they will remain in Albany, New York as usual. This marks the end of a near 16-year long tenure as an Activision studio. We hope Vicarious Visions will bring some real innovation into Blizzard. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest gaming news and updates!
