Its been a while since Bethesda and ID Software announced DOOM Eternal. Fans were surprised that a Switch version was announced with the other platforms. Its been in development in tandem with Panic Button and the pandemic has played a role in the hiatus of news for the Switch version. Luckily, Executive Producer Marty Stratton finally gives an update about the game today. Stratton says the game is “very close” for Switch but can’t exactly say when more details will arrive. The team is making sure the Switch version is uncompromising and working well on the platform for fans to enjoy. Here’s what Stratton had to say:
“I wish I could give you specifics. I read all the comments, and when we say anything about Doom Eternal, there’s always the one out of every five comments is, ‘Yeah, how about you tell us about the Switch?’ I know people are anxious.
We’re trying to make it the best version of the game it possibly can be, so we’ve been working with Panic Button. They’re also like everybody in work from home. It’s taken a little bit longer to get there, but we want it to be everything it possibly can be. It’s very close, and we’re trying to be very uncompromising with what it needs to be because there’s a high demand for it. We will be talking about it again in the not too distant future. It is close, but I can’t say exactly how close.”
Maybe DOOM Eternal will be shown off in an upcoming Nintendo Direct Mini? It seems likely as Nintendo has more Partners’ Showcases lined up for 2020. Lastly, DOOM Eternal is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest gaming news and updates!
