During Anime Expo Lite 2020, the official The World Ends With You panel shed some light about the upcoming anime! The World Ends With You: The Animation airs worldwide in 2021 and the official website is live in English. Key members of the game were present in the panel including:
- Producer Tomohiko Hirano
- Director Tatsuya Kando
- Character Designer Gen Kobayashi
- Composer Takeharu Ishimoto
Ishimoto will be composing music for the anime, bringing many new tracks into the TWEWY universe. In addition, Kazuya Ichikawa is the director for the anime. The anime incorporates 3D CG and famed director/character designer Tetsuya Nomura is working with the anime as well. Nomura was present at the panel but not on camera. The key art is available below:
Shibuya in The Animation is slightly different from the game as its based on Shibuya of today (2020) instead of the game (2007). There will be a couple of differences but will not detract from the experience. Today’s TWEWY fans can enjoy it like fans of the original game from the DS.
