Nintendo had an excellent year in 2019, exceeding sales records and releasing highly successful games like Pokemon Sword/Shield and Luigi’s Mansion 3. It turns out that Nintendo dominated Japan, accounting for 80% of Japan’s console market in 2019. This also marks Nintendo’s strongest console sales since 1999, nearly 2 decades ago. In addition, the Nintendo Switch saw a 29% growth year-over-year.
