New Pokémon Sword and Shield Trailer Showcases New Villain Team and Galarian Forms

A brand new Pokémon Sword and Shield trailer from the official Pokémon Youtube channel gave us a look at the new villain team, Team Yell, along with some new pokémon and forms exclusive to the Galar region.

Among these are the new Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Weezing and a Pikachu look-a-like named Morpeko. Morpeko seems to have two forms, a happy “full belly” form, and an angry “hangry” form. These forms suggest the pokémon changes shape depending on how much it eats. We also got our first look at the snide and cocky rival, Bede. This trailer not only showcasing our new rival but also showing some insight into what Team Yell is all about. Marnie, a trainer and the target of Team Yell’s fanaticism is also shown briefly sporting a gothic style outfit, with spiked boots to match. Team Yell also is wearing the same color scheme, it seems and will follow her wherever she may go.

Sword and Shield look to be introducing a lot of fun new forms, Pokémon and a zany as always villain team to follow in Team Skull’s footsteps from the previous entries, Sun and Moon. The new forms look as creative as always, and it will be interesting to see what other Pokémon will get a makeover and what exactly this design philosophy will entail.

New Switch models will use IGZO display panels by Sharp

Nintendo Switch

Wall Street Journal has reported that Sharp will provide their IGZO display panels for new Switch models. Sharp Vice President Katsuaki Nomura further explains this in the Wall Street Journal report:

IGZO – indium gallium zinc oxide – is a semiconducting material that the Osaka-based display maker was first to use in mass-produced display panels. Its features include high resolution, low energy consumption and durability.

“We will provide what we are most good at, IGZO,” said Sharp Executive Vice President Katsuaki Nomura, when asked what type of displays it was providing to a videogame client. The Wall Street Journal reported in March that Sharp was set to be a supplier for Nintendo’s flagship Switch console this year.

Sharp’s Mr. Nomura didn’t specify which model would feature the IGZO displays.

Today’s Switch uses older amorphous silicon display technology, originally from Japan Display Inc. but now from Taiwanese suppliers.

As of now, the Switch revision with better battery life is available for purchase. Switch Lite releases on September 20th. Final Weapon will keep you all updated on which Switch models use this display panel once more information is provided.

Death Stranding is no longer listed as PS4 exclusive

Death Stranding

If you’re like me, you’re very interested in the release of Death Stranding but don’t have the PS4 for it. Well, today may just be our lucky day. Death Stranding has been removed from the PS4 exclusives page on their website, spelling a potential release on another platform.

If you head to PlayStation’s PS4 exclusives page, you’ll notice it’s currently missing. Using the WayBack machine shows that it was there, meaning there was likely a reason for its removal. It didn’t happen too long ago either, as you can find the listing as late as May 26th. As for what platform (or platforms) the game will now release on is currently unknown, though rumors have been saying PC. Take that with a grain of salt though, as it could easily not be the case.

Either way, this should be great news for all of us who don’t own a PS4. If you don’t already know what Death Stranding is, it’s an upcoming action game from the mind of Hideo Kojima. You may know him better from the Metal Gear Solid games. The game will be releasing on November 8th, 2019 for PlayStation (and potentially another platform).

Are you excited for Death Stranding on another platform? Be sure to let Final Weapon know.

Vampyr, Warhammer: Chaosbane, and more coming to Origin Access

If you’re a subscriber to EA’s Origin Access program, you have a lot to look forward to this month. EA have announced today that eight more titles will be coming to the Origin Access program. One of those games is for strictly Premier subscribers. Those eight games are as follows:

Vampyr – Considered a sleeper hit by many, you must traverse the streets of London in order to save (or feed on) the people. Use the upgrades you have at your disposal to accomplish these tasks in a story rich campaign.

Warhammer: Chaosbane – An action RPG in which you save a world ravaged by the hordes of chaos. This game is the only Premier game on this list, and sits at around a 70% as well

Overcooked – Serve dishes and yell at your friends in this cooking sim developed by Ghost Town Games. This game is at around an 80%, especially good for a group of IRL friends.

The Escapists – A classic top down prison escape game, filled with all the silliness you’d expect. With a 75% average, this is worth getting into (and escaping).

Mugsters – You must use your tools in order to take out aliens and save humanity in this puzzle game. The game has a 70% average score.

Yoku’s Island Express – If platformers are your thing, then Yoku’s has you covered. With the uniqueness of pinball added into the mix, this game is definitely one you’ll want to have a go at.

Dear Esther – For those of you who really enjoy story-driven games, you’ll love Dear Esther. Read through letters to a husband’s deceased wife and discover what truly led you to where you are now.

Renowned Explorers: International Society – For fans of turn-based strategy games, you might want to try this title. You must assemble a team of three unique characters in order to conquer all the different expeditions. This title is a 70% score, being worth a solid attempt.

And that’s all for this month of Origin Access. If you haven’t heard of it already, Origin Access is a subscription program from EA. You can pay a premium every month in order to play a host of titles, with Premier offering newer and bigger titles in its lineup. If you’re looking to sign up, you can do so here. These titles will come to the program on August 20th.

Google Stadia Connect to take place on August 19th

With Gamescom around the corner, it has just been announced that Google will be hosting their second ever Google Stadia Connect around the time of said gaming event on August 19th at 10AM PDT. Unlike the last Stadia Connect, Google is being very vague about what will be shown off at this Connect. “Tune in for all the details” is the information that was provided to us to describe this Connect. As a comparison, before the last Stadia Connect, we were told that we would receive launch information, game announcements, and pricing. It seems likely that we will receive new game announcements at the very least. An exact release date in November also seems like a safe bet of what we will know after August 19th.

Let’s do it again. On 8/19, #StadiaConnect is back and bigger than ever. Tune in at 10AM PDT / 7PM CEST for all the details – then come get hands-on with the future of gaming for yourself at our #Gamescom booth!
