Players will be able to sign into their Xbox Live accounts to earn achievements on the Switch version. Save data from the demo can be transferred into the full game and the Switch version has improved animations! Here’s the full FAQ:

What type of game is Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition?

The forest of Nibel is dying. After a powerful storm sets a series of devastating events in motion, Ori must journey to find courage and confront a dark nemesis to save the forest of Nibel. Winner of several prestigious awards, Ori and the Blind Forest tells the tale of a young orphan destined for heroics, through a visually stunning Action-Platformer crafted by Moon Studios. Featuring hand-painted artwork, meticulously animated character performance, a fully orchestrated score, and dozens of new features in the Definitive Edition, Ori and the Blind Forest explores a deeply emotional story about love and sacrifice, and the hope that exists in us all.

What’s the difference between the original Ori and the Blind Forest and the Definitive Edition?

After shipping the original game, we listened to our fans’ suggestions and added some exciting new features to improve the experience. This is what you’ll find in the “Definitive Edition”:

  • Additional content: New areas, new secrets, new abilities, more story sequences, multiple difficulty modes, full backtracking support, and much more!
  • Discover Naru’s past in two brand-new environments.
  • Master two powerful new abilities: Dash and Light Burst.
  • Try a variety of difficulty modes, from Easy to One Life for those Ori masters out there.
  • Find new secret areas and explore Nibel faster by teleporting between Spirit Wells.
  • Check out Theater Mode for behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Moon Studios.

Is there any new content in the Nintendo Switch version?

The Nintendo Switch version is identical to the version on Xbox One and PC.

When did Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition launch on Nintendo Switch?

The full game launched on Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019. Prior to that, a demo containing the prologue and first section of the game (approximately 30 minutes of gameplay) was released as a separate download on September 20, 2019.

If I play the Ori demo, will my progress transfer over to the full game?

Yes, as long as you complete the demo, and then own and open the full game on the same Nintendo account. Incomplete demo playthroughs will not transfer over, but progress towards achievements will.

Can I transfer saved games from my Xbox One or PC over to Nintendo Switch?

Unfortunately, that’s not possible at this time.

What should I do if I get stuck in a bad save state on my Nintendo Switch?

Ori and the Blind Forest always tracks your last 10 saves, so if you find yourself trapped and unable to progress further (for any reason), you can easily roll back to a previous save file. Simply return to “Start Game,” select your save, and then use the left stick to navigate up. Choose a previous save file and press “A” to load that backup save.

Are there any multiplayer features included with Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition?

Ori and the Blind Forest is a single-player adventure. There are no multiplayer features offered, either on the Nintendo Switch version or Xbox One or PC.

Why should I sign in to a Microsoft account on the Nintendo Switch start screen?

Signing in to your Microsoft account connects you to your Xbox Live account. This allows achievements earned on the Nintendo Switch to funnel back into your Xbox Live gamerscore. It also allows you to participate in leaderboard postings hosted by Microsoft services.

What is a Microsoft account and why do I need it for Nintendo Switch?

A Microsoft account is a free account you can use to sign in on a device. While it’s not required to play Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch, it allows players to carry their achievement progress over to Xbox Live and participate in Ori’s leaderboards. You can create a free Microsoft account here.

How do I connect my Microsoft account to my Nintendo account?

First, ensure you have a free Microsoft account. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Start Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition on your Nintendo Switch.
  2. On the start screen, press “X” to sign in with a Microsoft account.
  3. If this is your first time, a text box will appear with a link (https://www.microsoft.com/link) and a code.
  4. Visit the link on a separate device with internet access. This will ask you for the code provided on your Nintendo Switch.
  5. Enter the code in the Microsoft prompt.
  6. After entering the code, you’ll be asked to sign in to the email connected to your Microsoft account.

This should link the Nintendo and Microsoft accounts. Moving forward, you should automatically sign in and no longer see the “Press X” prompt on the start screen.

Do I need to pay a subscription fee (like Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) to play online?

Online subscription fees are determined by the platform you play on, so an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is not required for Nintendo Switch players. However, to get the most out of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, linking to a free Microsoft account is highly recommended.

Does the Nintendo Switch version support both handheld and TV modes?

Yes, it does.

Does the Nintendo Switch version support Joy-Con and Pro controllers?

The Last of Us Part II will launch on February 21st, 2020.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today at the State of Play broadcast that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II will be launching on February 21st, 2020. Check out the brand new trailer for the game below.

Below you can learn all about the game straight from The Last of Us Part II’s director, Neil Druckmann.

Thank you for being patient with us. Very patient. Even though we’ve been eager to share more about The Last of Us Part II and tell you its release date, we wanted to wait until we were close to wrapping up production and we were confident in the date itself. We have a bunch of new stuff to share with you today… starting with the fact that on February 21, 2020 the Last of Us Part II can finally be in your hands.

We began working on this game over five years ago. It’s hard to describe the immense pressure of following up the first game. We know how much you love this world and its characters — especially Ellie and Joel. Believe me, we’re fans as well. We love them. Which is why we spent years crafting a game that we feel will do them justice, telling a nuanced story that deals with the core question: how far would you go to exact justice against the people that hurt the ones you love? It’s a highly emotional story with complex themes that befit the world of The Last of Us. What we realized pretty early on is that we were putting together Naughty Dog’s most ambitious and longest game in our 35 year history. To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive. Without spoiling too much, at the top of this post you can watch the brand-new trailer that we debuted earlier today on State of Play, which just scratches the surface of what the game has in store.

Alongside the trailer, we’re thrilled to reveal the various editions of the game, including The Last of Us Part II Standard Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Ellie Edition. In collaboration with PlayStation, we worked hard to make sure these versions would be truly special by including content and items drawn from the game and its characters.

Let’s kick things off with the Collector’s Edition, which includes a beautifully crafted 12” Ellie statue, a life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet, a custom SteelBook case, 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, a set of six enamel pins, lithograph art print, and a set of five stickers. The Collector’s Edition also comes with a voucher for digital content, including a PS4 dynamic theme, a set of six PSN avatars, a digital soundtrack, and a digital version of the mini art book.

The Ellie Edition gives you all of the contents of the Collector’s Edition, plus a full-sized, fully functional recreation of Ellie’s backpack, an embroidered patch, and a 7” vinyl record featuring music from the original soundtrack. We’ll also have a Special Edition version that features the custom SteelBook case and all of the digital content found in the Ellie Edition and Collector’s Edition.

For those that prefer to go digital, we have the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the digital content outlined above, as well as a digital copy of the Standard Edition. If you pre-order either of these versions on PlayStation Store, you’ll instantly receive a The Last of Us Part II PSN avatar featuring Ellie’s tattoo. Additionally, if you pre-order any edition of the game, you’ll also receive two in-game unlocks at launch:

  • Ammo Capacity Upgrade: Instantly unlock an ammo capacity upgrade for Ellie’s pistol.

  • Crafting Training Manual: Instantly unlock the Crafting Training Manual, which provides access to new crafting recipes and upgrades.

Hold on. We’re not done. Today, journalists from all over the world are going hands-on with two new levels at a press event in Los Angeles–playing roughly three hours of the game! Thankfully, you won’t have to wait long to see and hear more about it. Their impressions and videos will be going live this Thursday, September 26 around 8:00am PT, or, as many fans of The Last of Us know it: Outbreak Day.

Inspired by the day the cordyceps fungus reached critical mass, every September 26 we celebrate The Last of Us community and we’ve got some exciting things planned! Be sure to check back here and follow Naughty Dog on , and  for all the latest.

You are now months away from playing The Last of Us Part II. Your love for our games inspires and fuels us as we work hard and deliver an experience worthy of our fans. We are extremely proud of the game we’re crafting and cannot wait to share it with y’all.

Until then, endure and survive!
