    Mafia The Old Country

During The Game Awards 2024, 2K and Hangar 13 announced Mafia: The Old Country will launch in summer 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game will feature Sicilian voice acting and an Italian language localization for both in-game UI and subtitles.

Here’s an overview of Mafia: The Old Country, along with the new trailer, via the official website

Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara in this immersive third-person action-adventure.

Uncover a Merciless World of Organized Crime

The rough-hewn beauty of Sicily’s rugged countryside is a stark contrast to the grime of urban alleyways—but the treachery and violence of this gangland run just as deep.

    Play a Classic Mob Movie

You’re the antihero of this thrilling 1900s story, living out every tense moment of Enzo’s descent into Sicily’s clandestine criminal underworld. Soak in sun-drenched Mediterranean scenery with picture-perfect visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, and immerse yourself in every period-authentic detail of this classic crime drama.

    Fight to Survive

Engage in life-or-death combat, be it up close with a blade or from afar with a variety of firearms. To prove himself worthy in the Torrisi family, Enzo will have to master all the tools of the trade, including period-authentic handguns, rifles, and shotguns, to overcome any odds and doggedly eliminate the Don’s enemies.

    Travel in Authentic Style

To reach your next target or make a hurried getaway, you’ll need to gallop on horseback across cobbled streets and open fields, or speed down dirt roads in authentic turn-of-the-century automobiles.

Screamer Teaser Trailer Revealed, Coming 2026

Animated cutscene from the Screamer teaser trailer

The first teaser trailer for Screamer was revealed today at The Game Awards. It will be a reimagining of the 1995 racing game of the same name. As of writing, little is known about how the game will actually play, although if the trailer is anything to go by, it will probably be intense.

The game comes from Milestone, the same company behind the Hot Wheels Unleashed titles. Screamer will be arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2026.

Screamer Game Awards 2024 Teaser Trailer

While the trailer features no gameplay, it does showcase the game’s art direction and animated cutscenes. These cutscenes will be animated by the anime studio Polygon Pictures.

With this in mind, Screamer will likely take a more narrative-focused approach compared to most other racing games. It seemingly takes place in a cyberpunk setting with references to a tournament, which the game’s characters will almost definitely compete in.

The title will supposedly blend extreme racing and fighting mechanics. How this combination will work has yet to be seen. However, with this detail, one can expect this to be one of the more aggressive racers available on the market.

Very few other details are currently available, but the game’s website can be visited here. Additional details will appear on Milestone’s social media pages. For more updates, be sure to keep an eye on Final Weapon!

The original Screamer released exclusively for MS-DOS. It was developed by Graffiti, which eventually became Milestone. While the game did manage to spawn four sequels, the IP has been dormant since around 2001.

For those who are curious, the first Screamer game can still be purchased on Steam and GOG. It’s doubtful it will be representative of the upcoming title, but perhaps it’s worth a look.

BLACKFROST: The Long Dark 2 Announced, Early Access Arriving in 2026

Screenshot from Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 announcement trailer

Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 was revealed today at The Game Awards 2024. It appears that the game’s launch is still far away, as early access begins in 2026. This sequel promises to refine and evolve the survival gameplay from the first game.

Blackfrost will introduce new elements to the mix, including new co-op features. For now, the title has only been confirmed to launch on PC via Steam, but it will presumably find its way to other platforms.

Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 Game Awards 2024 Trailer

The trailer for The Long Dark 2 features little, if any, gameplay. Instead, the announcement primarily focuses on presenting the game’s stylized visuals. It showcases the bleak, yet strangely peaceful atmosphere that fans of the original title can expect from the sequel.

The events of Blackfrost primarily occur in the post-apocalyptic city of Harmont. Players will be able to create their own survivor and customize their traitsAs such, The Long Dark 2 claims to be the first title built from the ground-up as a survival RPG.

The Long Dark and its sequel features a world suffering from a “quiet” apocalypse, rendering most modern technology useless. Not only will Blackfrost test the player character’s ability to survive, it will also test their psychological state as well with a new “Will to Live” system.

Additionally, a new “Permalife” system will supposedly “turn every death into a new adventure”. The details on exactly how this system functions are vague, but the name should give a hint. Classic Permadeath is also an option.

The early access period will last for approximately one or two years. Hinterland Studio plans to utilize community feedback to improve the game over time. For more updates, be sure to keep an eye on Final Weapon!

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Announced At The Game Awards 2024

Capcom has announced during The Game Awards 2024 that after two decades, the Onimusha series will be making a triumphant return with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The game is planned for a 2026 worldwide release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Onimusha is rooted in the Sengoku period, Japan’s legendary age of warring states. The games infuse history with Japanese folklore to tell tales of warriors who wield the mystical power of the Oni. These heroes are drawn into conflict with the Genma, relentless monsters hellbent on conquering the world.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword takes place in Kyoto during the early Edo period. In this time of relative peace for Japan, Malice has befallen the ancient city. Twisted into an eerie and unsettling place, Kyoto has been infested by the demonic Genma.

In the debut trailer, a lone samurai armed with the Oni Gauntlet engages in fierce, blood-soaked sword fights with these hellish creatures from another world.
