Falcom currently in talks to bring upcoming ‘Ys IX’ to the Nintendo Switch.

Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo recently shared with the website Dualshocker that the studio is currently trying to find a publisher for a possible Switch port of their upcoming action-JRPG, Ys IX. He stated:

“We have talks in progress with multiple publishers regarding possible Switch games, but I can’t tell you anything precise yet or if it will happen or not.”

Rather encouraging knowing the massive success most JRPGs are meeting on Nintendo‘s latest console. It is important to note that when asked last year about the same question, Toshihiro replied:

“That will depend on the success of Ys VIII. So far, in Japan, we’ve mainly been launching our games on PlayStation systems and things are going well. So, rather than switching, we’d like to have more balance.”

When asked again last month, he gave a different version:

“Switch is an incredible platform we like, but the truth is that we don’t have the knowhow to really develop for Switch.

Plus we’re, fairly convinced that our main user base is actually located on the PlayStation platform. That said, you know, thanks to working with Nippon Ichi Software in Japan and then NIS America over here, we were able to bring one of our games to Switch and obviously we want to grow the brands as much as we can and put it out as much as we can. So in the future, if we have the opportunity to have our games ported by other other companies to Nintendo Switch, it’s something we would definitely be happy to pursue.

And as a gamer myself, as an aside, I personally love the Switch. In Japan when this question comes up, it always, we get this weird thing where it’s like “Falcom doesn’t want to work on Switch,” or “Falcom doesn’t like Switch,” or something. And that’s not… The plain and simple truth of it all is that we just don’t have the knowhow and the ability to be able to work on Switch games right now.”

Seems like we’ve come a long way, everytime the man is being asked, he gives a different answer, possibly meaning that their previous Switch port, Ys VIII probably did pretty well and they simply cannot ignore the system anymore. In any case don’t expect Ys IX to release the same day on the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch, stay tuned for possible updates.

Sothis, Rhea and Jeralt leaked as playable units for Fire Emblem: Three Houses Expansion Pass!

Nintendo‘s latest strategy JRPG sure has been making a lot of noise for the past two weeks, we even reviewed it ourselves and we totally share the same level of excitement. The game shines in many aspects, especially on the unit side of things. Being able to create genuine bonds with your students brings heavy emotional weight once you are on the battlefield. The fear of losing said students is as real as it gets. However, Fire Emblem hasn’t exactly allowed us to bring and play as everybody on the battlefield…at least, yet.

A Youtuber by the name of DeathChaos data-mined the expansion pass DLC and leaked Sothis, Jeralt and Rhea as playable units. The video shows different quotes, attacks, and even models for all three. It even contains voice lines for things such as leveling up and skill mastery or weapon rank up, showing that they are not only mere NPCs. And when it comes to Sothis, her model actually shows up on the battlefield. The waves also contain more side stories for Sothis, Jeralt and Rhea. Nothing has been found on a possible Death Knight route as of right now.

We are now entering speculation territory but my guess would be playable routes for Jeralt and Rhea that fletches out their characters even more.

We, however still don’t have any release dates but that expansion pass sure does seem meaty in content. Stay tuned for more info.

Gears 5 has gone gold, reveal coming soon

Gears 5, the upcoming third-person shooter, has officially gone gold. This means the game is in a ready to ship state, now moving on to the manufacturing process. This state is huge for both the game and developer The Coalition, and we congratulate the team on this achievement. The team “couldn’t be more excited to share Gears 5 with the world.” and can’t wait for the September 6th release date (for Game Pass subscribers and Ultimate Edition owners).

To go with this news, the team has a few things to share. First of all, they’ve released the entire achievements list for you to have a look at. If you’re an achievement hunter, you’ll definitely find a use for this. Outside of that though, the team shares that there will be two reveals for the game on August 19th. Starting with Inside Xbox at 5PM CEST, the new Horde Mode will be revealed. Following that at 8PM, the story trailer for Gears 5 will be revealed at gamescom: Opening Night Live.

Sega has filed a trademark for Total War Saga: Troy in the UK. The owner of the trademark is Creative Assembly Limited, developers of the Total War series. According to a reply from an official Creative Assembly account on Reddit, it appears that the new AAA game from Sega will not be related to the studio.

However, this trademark indicates that Creative Assembly and Sega could announce the new Total War game in the near future. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for more updates on Sega titles and Total War!

Hello Games would love to bring No Man’s Sky to Switch

When Hello Games released No Man’s Sky on this day 3 years ago, the reception to game was quite negative. Since then, Hello Games has continued to work on consistent updates. Beyond is the latest one and is launching next Wednesday. However, it seems like Sean Murray is interested in bringing the game to a new platform.

In an interview with Game Informer, they asked Murray if they would be interested in bringing the game to Nintendo Switch. His response was quite indicative of the possibility.

“It’s super interesting,” says Murray. “I love the Switch. We’re obviously very focused on what we’re doing right now, but we have done a lot of work for PSVR to optimize the game. So I’d be interested to see what’s possible. But at the moment, we’re just very focused on what we’re doing right now.”

Of course it’s understandable that Hello Games is focused on the newest update and optimizing the game on all three platforms. (PS4, XBO and PC) If anything I think No Man’s Sky would be a great fit on Switch especially on this scale.
