The Verge has reported that The Elder Scrolls VI will have the subtitle of Sentinel, making its full name The Elder Scroll VI: Sentinel. It has also stated that the announcement pertaining to The Elder Scrolls VI “could come as soon as next month.”

Tom Warren of The Verge states the following about the news:

“Sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans tell me that the Xbox-owned publisher is about to announce that the next Elder Scrolls game will officially be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The announcement could come as soon as next month, during a period that will mark 15 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released…

While I’m only expecting a name reveal next month and nothing more, I’ve been hearing some additional details about the game…I understand that Sentinel will be set in Hammerfell, a province in the Elder Scrolls universe that’s appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. Sentinel will be the first game about the history of the Elder Scrolls, and help uncover the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts.”

Recently, Xbox announced a reorganization of all the studios under it, as part of its recently confirmed reset, which will result in further layoffs. In a message, Xbox COO Matt Booty outlines the changes:

    • Activision will expand its remit to World’s Edge, as well as Rare. Activision will also be developing the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team that is separate from ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty. A small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games in-market.
    • Bethesda will expand its remit to include Obsidian, which will continue its current projects, including Grounded, as well as the new Fallout project made in collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios.
    • King will expand its remit to include Microsoft Casual Games, uniting our two global leaders in casual game design and live operations.
    • Playground and Turn 10 will come together as one studio focused on the Forza and Fable franchises. These two studios have been creative and franchise partners for over a decade, and today’s changes will formally move their work into one team.
