Bandai Namco has released a standalone Steam version of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, which was included exclusively as a pre-order bonus for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Previously, the classic PlayStation 2 title was only accessible through the installation of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve on PC.
Now, Steam users have the option of uninstalling the game as “DLC” for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and instead installing the game with a standalone download. Save data automatically carries over to the standalone release if stored locally on the same PC.
In addition, Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War now supports Steam achievements. Players who already met requirements for certain achievements simply need to complete any mission to automatically unlock them.
It’s worth noting that the standalone release does not mean that players who didn’t pre-order Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve can buy Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. The game is not available for individual sale.
Bandai Namco also released its version 1.01.002 update for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve with numerous bug fixes for the Campaign and Ace Combat Online modes. The team at Project Aces is preparing more improvements to the UI and menu controls in Ace Combat Online for future Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve updates.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launched on October 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Final Weapon previously reviewed Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and gave it a 4.5/5 score, making it one of our highest-rated games of the year.
Final Weapon previously published a preview of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and an interview with developers Manabu Shimomoto and Kazutoki Kono from Bandai Namco and Project Aces.
