According to a new report from Variety, EA has tasked DICE and Respawn Entertainment to work together on Star Wars Battlefront III. The announcement comes right on the heels of EA laying off 400 staffers and shutting down BioWare.
Variety states the following in a new article: “In more upbeat news, Weber and Tinson touted first-person shooter Battlefield 6 as ‘a great success, and we learned a lot from the launch and the live service.’ Going forward, in addition to future Battlefield titles, the execs said ‘we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project.’ While they did not identify the project, multiple sources confirmed that this is Star Wars: Battlefront 3 for Lucasfilm.”
DICE is most known for its work on the Battlefield franchise and EA’s Star Wars Battlefront series. Respawn is beloved due to its work on Apex Legends, Star Wars Jedi, and Titanfall. The most recent Star Wars Jedi game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The Steam page describes it as follows:
The story of Cal Kestis continues in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a third-person, galaxy-spanning, action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment, developed in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. This narratively driven, single-player title picks up 5 years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and follows Cal’s increasingly desperate fight as the galaxy descends further into darkness. Pushed to the edges of the galaxy by the Empire, Cal will find himself surrounded by threats new and familiar. As one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Cal is driven to make a stand during the galaxy’s darkest times — but how far is he willing to go to protect himself, his crew, and the legacy of the Jedi Order?
