Harunohi Biyori
My name is Harunohi Biyori, the original author.
Thanks to the incredible support we’ve received from everyone, I’m delighted to say that the series is finally getting an anime adaptation! Having my work published as a book was one dream come true, and now, with the anime adaptation, another dream has come true as well. Everyone involved—the publisher, the anime production staff, and the voice cast—has approached the project with such incredible care and dedication. I can truly feel how seriously everyone is engaging with the work, and I’ve been deeply moved by it. There have even been moments that made me realize, “I never thought of expressing it that way!”
I’m already incredibly excited to see Alia brought to life through animation, from her intense emotions to the fierce action sequences! I hope you’ll all look forward to it together with me.
My deepest gratitude to everyone!
Director Noriyoshi Sasaki
The story takes place in the world of an otome game.
At its center is Alia, a protagonist who defies the fate assigned to her as the heroine. Around her are the villainess and a host of other characters. Exhilarating battles and action. Dark fantasy. How will Alia survive the brutal trials that await her? And how will she grow into “Lady Cinders”?
Our entire staff is hard at work bringing the many appeals of OtoSaba—the Japanese abbreviation for The Otome Heroine’s Fight for Survival—to as many people as possible.
Please look forward to it!
Fuka Izumi
I’m Fuka Izumi, and I’ll be playing Alia!
Alia is a strong and beautiful girl who chooses to walk an incredibly harsh path in life. She rarely shows changes in her feelings or emotions outwardly, but I’m giving the role everything I must make sure her determination comes through in my voice. Personally, portraying a character who doesn’t openly express her emotions feels like a challenge for me. But Alia herself is constantly taking on challenges, so I feel like we’re fighting back-to-back, side by side!
Harunohi launched the original story in March 2019 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website. TO Books publishes the light novel series with artwork from Yuu Hitaki, and Kobato Wakasa
Lastly, here’s an overview of the light novel series, via J-Novel Club:
Orphaned by a monster attack on her village, young Alicia spends three horrid years in an orphanage before finally running away. When she flees, however, Alicia has a violent encounter with an older woman hell-bent on killing her. During their tussle, she comes into contact with a strange crystal that bestows upon her a wealth of knowledge, transforming her from an innocent child into a cool and calculated planner.
Now aware that she was meant to be the protagonist of an otome game and disgusted with her supposed fate, Alicia decides to take matters into her own hands and become strong—by any means necessary. Using her newfound knowledge, and with some help from a stranger she meets in the woods, she learns to survive by herself in a world far too harsh and unforgiving for a girl her age. Ready or not, she’s determined to carve her own path.
