Yoshihiro Togashi, creator of series such as Hunter x Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho, has announced that he will no longer accept any work with deadlines once he has finished currently outstanding commissions. He cited both physical and mental concerns.

Previously, Togashi confirmed that he has finished the character inking process for Hunter x Hunter manga chapter 431. Shueisha released Hunter x Hunter volume 39 on July 3 in Japan. The volume was not released in English yet, but fans can catch up by reading on Manga Plus and VIZ Media. The series is still on hiatus as of September 7 and will return at a currently unknown date.
That said, a new stage play titled Hunter x Hunter The Stage 4 will be held from January to February 2027 and July to August 2027 in Tokyo and Kyoto. The Hunter x Hunter manga previously went on a hiatus after the release of chapter 410, which was released on December 8, 2024. One month prior, Togashi revealed that he underwent surgery and was recovering.
Bushiroad and WonderPlanet released Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Survivor, a new roguelite action game for Android and iOS, on February 18, 2026 in Japan. Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Survivor is a free-to-play title with in-app purchases. Bushiroad also collaborated with Arc System Works and Eighting to release 3v3 fighting game Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, which is available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game’s latest Season Pass includes DLC characters Phinks, Neferpitou, Shizuku Murasaki, and Zeno Zoldyck.
