Deadline has reported that The Legend of Zelda movie will feature Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf when it releases on April 30, 2027. He has previously played a younger version of Dwayne Johnson in Young Rock.
Uli Latukefu has also starred in Alien Covenant, Black Adam, and MaXXXine. He joins Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Previously, Shigeru Miyamoto showcased the official designs for both characters via a social media post. Wes Ball directs the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. In the past, Ball directed The Maze Runner franchise and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. More news about the upcoming film will likely surface at a later date.
UPDATE: Deadline also revealed that Dichen Lachman (Severence) and Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) are part of the film’s cast, the former of which will play Impa according to a set leak. Furthermore, the late Sam Neill (Jurassic World) is also part of the movie’s cast. The upcoming movie will be his last on-screen performance, which he performed before he passed.
During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, releasing for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The trailer is told in a storybook format and hints at the role of the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri. It states that every Kokiri has a fairy attached to them, all except for one who doesn’t. This boy is revealed to be Link, who we see in a gorgeously new HD artstyle sleeping as the Triforce of Courage flashes on his hand. The trailer also hints calls back to some of the iconic tracks from the original game, including Saria’s Song.
