This year’s 36th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump has released a new one-shot for KochiKame commemorating the manga’s 50th anniversary. The manga initially debuted in 1976.
Recently, it was revealed that the TV anime adaptation of Osamu Akimoto’s KochiKame manga will return with “New KochiKame” anime project by studio Gallop. In addition, Shueisha Games and Kairosoft have announced KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat, a new city builder sim game for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The new anime, Shin Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo, or simply New Kochikame for short, also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the manga. The anime’s staff will reveal its cast on September 5. KochiKame: Ryo-san’s Billion-yen Beat is in development with no confirmed release date yet. REMOW is currently streaming the classic KochiKame anime on the It’s Anime YouTube channel. The channel streams the anime with English subtitles in the U.S. and Canada.
