The Metal Gear Solid Development Team has opened up a new social media account on Twitter/X, where it will share various “series-related updates.” The team has previously worked on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
The account will mostly focus on updates for these games, sharing development updates and stories for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker. On August 27, Konami will re-release these games through the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which will release on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Specifically, it will combine Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel together into one package for players to experience.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is also available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Currently, the future of the franchise beyond these games is still unknown. However, a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that a Metal Gear Solid film adaptation is in development at Sony’s Columbia Pictures studio.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directors of Final Destination: Bloodlines, will direct the upcoming film. Sony Pictures will publish the film via a first-look deal with the directors. Avi Arad and Ari Arad will produce the upcoming movie. Little details about the film’s cast and story are known. In a statement, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein said that “Metal Gear Solid was nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”
