The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi manga has announced that the series will go on hiatus starting with the 31st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on June 29. After discussions with his staff, Hokazono has decided to take a rest in order to work more stable going forward. The Kagurabachi manga is currently scheduled to be on hiatus until August.
The hiatus comes just a month after Hokazono took a one-week break from the Kagurabachi manga due to a “sudden illness.” Hokazono also took an unplanned break in June of last year due to his “sudden illness.”
Takeru Hokazono first released the Kagurabachi manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in September 2023. Shueisha published the manga’s 11th compiled volume in Japan on May 1. The manga has enjoyed massive success and has 4 million copies in circulation.
The Kagurabachi TV anime premieres in April 2027 with Taihi Kimura starring as Chihiro Rokuhira. Tetsuya Takeuchi directs the Kagurabachi anime at studio Cypic, and Keigo Sasaki handles the character design. Shochiku and CyberAgent are on the production committee.
Before the premiere, the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour will kick off with an exclusive preview of the first 20 minutes of episode 1 at Anime Expo 2026. Preview screenings will also be held at Anime NYC 2026, Japan Expo Paris, and AnimagiC in “Part 1” of the Kagurabachi Anime World Tour.
